Two anti-Israeli attacks occur in Kenya

 ¡@JERUSALEM, Nov. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Two anti-Israeli attacks occurred Thursday in Kenya's Indian Ocean port city Mombasa, causing some casualties, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said.

¡@¡@An Israeli airliner narrowly escaped an attack by two missiles when taking off from an airport of Mombasa, according to an Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman.

¡@¡@He said the plane was targeted, but survived the attack. It was preparing for emergency landing in Nairobi, capital city of Kenya, before eventually deciding to cancel the landing and continue the flight.

¡@¡@The Israeli charter company Arkia is investigating the reported missile attack.

¡@¡@Local radio quoted an airline official as saying the crew saw a flash of light shortly after the takeoff. No one aboard the aircraft was hurt, the source added.

¡@¡@According to the official, the plane took off at 7 a.m. (0500 GMT), when the pilot saw a flash of light on its left side.

¡@¡@Ground crews confirmed that it appeared to have been a missile, he said, adding that more than 270 passengers and 10 crew members were aboard.

¡@¡@The incident coincided with an explosion in the lobby of a hotel in Mombasa, which caused some casualties, including children.

¡@¡@The Israeli Foreign Ministry said several people were injured in an attack in the Paradise hotel in the resort town of Mombasa, which is popular among Israeli tourists.

¡@¡@An explosion went off in the lobby of the Paradise Hotel in Mombassa, where many Israelis were staying the ministry said.

¡@¡@Israeli hotel guests told Israeli media that there were casualties, including wounded children.

¡@¡@"I heard a loud explosion," an Israeli hotel guest, identified only as Rami, told Israel TV Channel Two. Another guest, Osnat, said there were wounded, including a number of children, and some of the wounded were taken to a nearby small hospital.

16 people killed in explosion in Mombasa

¡@MOMBASA, Kenya, Nov. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- As many as 16 people are confirmed dead in the explosion at 8:30 a.m. (0530 GMT) on Thursday in a hotel in Mombasa, a coastal city of Kenya, hotel director told Xinhua.

¡@¡@Among the dead, there are 10 local residents, three Israelis including a brother and a sister, and three suicide bombers, said Sulami Yehuda, director of Paradise Hotel.

¡@¡@Yehuda said witnesses told him that a light plane was seen drop two to three explosives almost at the same when the car with bomb drove to the place only meters away from the reception of the hotel. But this has not been confirmed.

¡@¡@After the blast, most of the hotel rooms were burnt and some were totally damaged.

¡@¡@Kenyan Coast Provincial police have arrested two suspects in Mombasa and the Israeli embassy in Kenya has been completely sealed off.
