China's top legislator meets prime minister of Vanuatu

     BEIJING, July 4 (Xinhuanet) -- China's top legislator, Wu Bangguo,said here Friday that the Chinese top legislature wishes to enhance exchanges with the parliament of Vanuatu in various fields,including legislation.

¡@¡@Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), made the remark during a meeting with Prime Minister Edward Nipake Natapei of Vanuatu.

¡@¡@Wu said exchanges between China's NPC and the Vanuatu parliament have been on the increase and have become an important part of China-Vanuatu relations.

¡@¡@Wu expressed China's gratitude to Natapei and to the Vanuatu government and parliament for their adherence to the one-China policy.

¡@¡@Natapei reiterated that the Vanuatu government will adhere to the one-China policy.

¡@¡@He said he was deeply impressed by China's fast-growing economyand by the great changes in the lives of its citizens.

¡@¡@China has effectively overcome the difficulties brought by the severe acute respiratory syndrome epidemic, Natapei said.

¡@¡@Natapei said the government, parliament and people of Vanuatu highly cherish China's friendship and regard the Chinese people astheir best friends.

¡@¡@Vanuatu is willing to have closer cooperation with China and draw on China's experience in development, the prime minister said.Enditem
