NE Chinese city dismisses incompetent court judges

¡@¡@HARBIN, July 7 (Xinhuanet) -- The Intermediate People's Court of Harbin, capital of the northeastern province of Heilongjiang, deposed three chief justices and removed two judges from their positions in a campaign to improve the quality of judicial staff, the court said Monday.

¡@¡@The court launched an inspection early this year, aiming to address problems like faulty appointments of judges and miscarriages of justice. In the first half of this year, court leaders handled nearly 300 appeals and complaints, and 21 bailiffswere punished for violations of regulations and laws.

¡@¡@Zhang Weidong, court president, said the judicial system was bestowed with the power to enforce justice and the campaign of judicial inspection was a chance to address public complaints. Enditem
