Mongolia to send military troops to Iraq

¡@¡@ULAN BATOR, July 11 (Xinhuanet) -- Mongolia will send about 200 soldiers to Iraq for peacekeeping and restoration in Iraq, said anofficial of the Mongolian army headquarters on Friday.

¡@¡@At a press conference, Ragchaa, the deputy commander of the Mongolian army headquarters said that the team to be sent to Iraq includes a 100-member motor shooting unit, a construction group of50 people and a medical team of more than 40 people.

¡@¡@He said that the soldiers in the team, having been selected ona voluntary basis, must have served in the army for over three years and not be older than 40. He noted that the situation in Iraq is still risky as it has not recovered from the war, therefore the soldiers would be prepared to work under tough conditions. He also expressed that the Mongolian government retains the right to withdraw its troops at any time.

¡@¡@According to him, the Mongolian troops will stay in Iraq for over six months and be engaged in protecting humanitarian aid andspecial objects, in construction and in check point duties. Enditem
