¡@¡@ SINGAPORE, Sept. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- The 27-year-old Singaporean SARS patient is doing well and may be discharged by Wednesday, Singapore's Health Ministry said Monday.

¡@¡@The patient has not had a fever for eight days and all his contacts remain well, said the ministry.

¡@¡@He will be required to serve a 14-day home quarantine after leaving the hospital, it said.

¡@¡@The patient, who came down with fever on Aug. 26, is believed to have probably contracted the SARS virus from a laboratory wherehe had worked as a researcher.

¡@¡@The Health Ministry also said on Monday that the recently formed 11-member expert panel, chaired by Dr Antony Della-Porta, an Australian bio-safety expert from the World Health Organization, started work on Monday and has visited some laboratories in Singapore.

¡@¡@The panel is expected to make recommendations on bio-safety practices and standards at local labs in regard to the recent SARS case upon completion of its investigations sometime next week. Enditem
