¡@¡@ JAKARTA,Sept. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Indonesia's Attorney General's Office (AGO)
said here Tuesday that it could not freeze the seven bank accounts allegedly
owned by terrorists as the United Nations requested.
¡@¡@Freezing bank accounts is the right of the police, said AGO spokesman
Antasari Azhar. The Attorney General office received a letter from the United
Nations on Sept. 9, requesting the Attorney General to freeze assets and bank
accounts allegedly owned by terrorists.
¡@¡@"We have replied the letter that freezing (the bank accounts) is the right
of investigator (police)," Antasari was quoted by Detikcom online news service
as saying.
¡@¡@Under a United Nations Security Council resolution, all UN member countries must
freeze assets and accounts of all groups and individuals listed with the UN
Counter Terrorism Committee. Enditem
