¡@¡@BANGKOK, Sept. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- A Thai government spokesman said that
Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra had ordered the blacklisting of foreign
activists who intend to oppose neighboring countries from Thai soil, the Bangkok
Post reported Thursday.
¡@¡@Sita Divari said that Thaksin had order the Foreign Affairs Ministry,
Immigration Police Bureau and National Security Council to monitor the
activities of certain foreign individuals and organizations.
¡@¡@These persons or groups would be blacklisted and denied entry visa if they
were found to be using Thai soil to opposite the governments of neighboring
countries, the spokesman said, noting the instruction of Thaksin was for
agencies to specially watch forresistance against Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
¡@¡@He quoted Thaksin as saying that Thailand had to make this stance clear to
maintain good relations with its neighbors.
¡@¡@Sita also said the move was not a human rights violation and that similar
restrictions had been applied in other countries including the United States and
Japan.
¡@¡@The NGOs and political exiles would not be targeted, he added. Enditem
