UNITED NATIONS, Jan. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan intended to appoint Serge Brammertz of Belgium to lead the UN panel into the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric announced Wednesday.
Brammertz, who is currently the Deputy Prosecutor for Investigation of the International Criminal Court, succeeds DetlevMehlis as the Commissioner of the UN International Independent Investigation Commission into Hariri's murder. Enditem
