China unveils Consulate General in Russia's Vladivostok

VLADIVOSTOK, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui and Rolik Alexander, Chairman of Legislative Assembly of Russia's Province Primorsky Krai, on Thursday attended the inauguration ceremony of Chinese Consulate General in Vladivostok in the Russia's far eastern city.

Li Hui said that the establishment of Chinese Consulate General in Vladivostok is a major event in China-Russia relationship as the two countries are "good neighbors, friends and partners."

It has a great significance in promoting and deepening the cooperation between Northeast China and Russia's Far East as well as its Siberian region in economy, culture and tourism, Li noted.

It will also play an important role in connecting China's the Belt and Road Initiative and the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union, added the ambassador.

For his part, Alexander said the establishment of Chinese Consulate General in Vladivostok proved the important role that Primorsky Krai province (Maritime Province) has played and will continue to promote cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

Primorsky Krai, informally known as Primorye, is the southeasternmost province of Russia. It has the largest economy in the Russian Far East, and its administrative center is in the city of Vladivostok.

Local overseas Chinese warmly welcomed the establishment of Chinese Consulate General in Vladivostok, saying it helps strengthen cohesion among them and integrates them into local communities, to which they are always willing to make more contributions.
