WARSAW, April 9 (Xinhua) -- After almost 24 hours, the rescue action following a building collapse in Swiebodzice, southwest Poland, came to an end, Lower Silesia's Provincial Governor Pawel Hreniak announced Sunday morning.

A residential building collapse happened on Saturday morning around 9 a.m.local time, leaving six casualties -- two children, three men and a woman. Four people injured in the event were taken into nearby hospitals.

At a press conference, Hreniak said that since 7 a.m., it was sure no one was left under the debris. 18 residents of nearby buildings who had been evacuated earlier, might go back home.

A seven-person committee was established to inspect and investigate into the cause of the collapse. A prosecution investigation is being carried out independently.

On Saturday evening, Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo and Minister of Interior and Administration Mariusz Blaszczak arrived to the site.

Szydlo announced that the children who lost their parents in the tragic event will be given special pension, while other victims of the catastrophe will be provided with help, if needed.

Szydlo held a phone conversation with Polish President Andrzej Duda about the situation in Swiebodzice.

More than 140 fire fighters were involved in the almost 24-hour-long rescue action. Specialists did not exclude gas explosion as a possible cause.
