SINGAPORE, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Sales at retail and food outlets at Singapore's Changi Airport in 2011 totaled 1.5 billion Singapore dollars (1.19 billion U.S. dollars), up 17 percent year on year, local media reported on Monday.

It puts Changi Airport in the list of the world's top four airports in terms of retail sales.

The airport said the growth was attributable to a record number of 46.5 million passenger traffic last year and the expansion of retail spaces at the terminals.

The company also held a million dollar lucky draw since 2010 and the winner this year is Jessica Down of Australia.

The Chinese were the biggest spending group of visitors, contributing about 20 percent of the sales while they account for only 8 percent of the visitor arrivals.
