Brief Introduction of Chinese Arts Week
ˇ@ˇ@Chinese Arts Week, sponsored by China Federation
of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC), is an art exchange activity
held overseas to display the Chinese culture and art with the
most distinctive national style and the achievement of the art
development in contemporary China. Held once a year in a certain
country, Chinese Arts Week involves artistic performance, art
exhibition, etc.
ˇ@ˇ@Chinese Arts Week was started from the year
of 2004. It was first held in Canada from August 13 to 24, with
the content of the artistic performance ˇ§Oriental Charmˇ¨ and the
Exhibition of Chinese Contemporary Graphic Design and Ceramic
Artˇ¨. The Art Ensemble of CFLAC was composed of the artists from
8 different institutions and ensembles, including China Central
Conservatory of Music, China Conservatory of Music, Beijing Dance
Drama and Opera House, China Broadcasting Traditional Music Orchestra,
China Railroad Art Ensemble, Jilin Provincial Song and Dance Ensemble,
Wuxi Song and Dance Ensemble and Xiamen Little Egret Folk Dance
Ensemble. They presented 7 performances in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal
and Vancouver. The art exhibition was held in Ottawa, the capital
city of Canada, displaying 80 digital art works and 35 Chinese
ceramic art works, both of which won prizes in the artistic contests
at home and abroad.
ˇ@ˇ@The Second Chinese Arts Week was held in Greece
from August 23 to September 4, 2005 which involved the artistic
performance ˇ§Oriental Charmˇ¨ and the Exhibition of Chinese Paintings
ˇ§Charms of Beijingˇ¨. The Art Ensemble of CFLAC was comprised of
the artists from China National Song and Dance Troupe, Beijing
Dance Academy and Zigong Acrobatic Troupe of Sichuan Province.
They had 12 tour performances in 11 cities of Greece. The art
exhibition was held in the art center of Athens, displaying 28
paintings, kept by Beijing Art Academy, from the renowned Beijing
painters who presented the culture and glamour of Beijing from
a unique angle with special techniques and in different styles
of traditional Chinese paintings.
ˇ@ˇ@The Third Chinese Arts Week was held from March
28 to April 13, 2006 in Australia. It was regarded as the most
important part of artistic performance of ˇ§Experience China in
Australiaˇ¨, jointly sponsored by CFLAC, Ministry of Culture of
China, Information Office of the State Council of China, Beijing
Municipal Government, Embassy of P. R. China in Australia and
other organizations. CFLAC sent an ensemble of 90 performers from
National Ballet of China and 31 performers from China National
Orchestra to take part in the performance in Australia. National
Ballet of China presented a large-scale ballet ˇ§Raised the Red
Lanternˇ¨ for 8 performances in the Capital Theatre of Sydney.
ˇ§Traditional Music in Splendid Attireˇ¨, presented by China National
Orchestra, had 11 tours of performance in 11 cities of Australia,
including one non-commercial show in the open air attracting over
4000 spectators in the famous Sydney Darling Harbour.
ˇ@ˇ@The Fourth Chinese Arts Week will be held from
November 19 to December 14 in Vienna, Austria, cosponsored by
CFLAC and the Ministry of Education, Art and Culture of Austria.
There will be five parts in this Arts Week: Gala Performance ˇ§China
Todayˇ¨, Fashion Show ˇ§China Windˇ¨, Chinese Film Week, Forum on
Architectural Art and Exhibition of New Media Art.
