HONG KONG, March 31 (Xinhua) -- China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government announced on Tuesday that a chartered flight will be arranged to help Hong Kong residents stranded in Peru return.

The flight is tentatively scheduled to depart from Lima, Peru's capital, on April 3 local time and head to London, Britain, where the passengers will then take a connecting flight with secured flight bookings back to Hong Kong.

The cost of the flight will be borne by the users.

Peru has declared a state of emergency and imposed strict restrictions on all land and air traffic. At present, the Hong Kong residents still in Peru cannot depart there through normal flight arrangement, said a spokesman of the HKSAR government.

As of Tuesday noon, the HKSAR government's Immigration Department has received a total of 91 assistance requests from Hong Kong residents stranded in Peru, including more than 30 group tour members.

The HKSAR government is actively following up with the Office of the Commissioner of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the HKSAR and the Chinese Embassy in Peru to help Hong Kong residents stranded in different locations in Peru to reach the capital for the chartered flight, said the spokesman.

The HKSAR government is also closely following up on the Hong Kong residents stranded in Morocco, said the spokesman.

The Immigration Department has received assistance requests from 152 Hong Kong residents in Morocco. As of Tuesday noon 113 people have either already returned to Hong Kong by different flights, or have secured return arrangements, he added.
