TAIPEI, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Two people tested positive for COVID-19 in Taiwan Saturday, raising the island's total number of COVID-19 cases to 479, the local epidemic monitoring agency said.
The new patients, a couple, both developed fever, cough and running noses in the Philippines but did not go to the hospital there, the agency said in a press release.
They returned to Taiwan Thursday and informed the authorities about their symptoms upon arrival at the airport, the statement said.
Taiwan recorded one COVID-19 patient Thursday. The man in his 60s returned from South Africa on July 25 and began to have symptoms on Aug. 3. Enditem
