BEIJING, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese researchers have developed a ground hybrid energy storage device of supercapacitor and battery to save energy for subways, Science and Technology Daily reported Wednesday.
The device can recycle the energy of a subway train's break and pull the trains to stations by the reserved energy when the power supply experiences sudden failure.
The energy-saving efficiency of the device can surpass 15 percent, said the report. About 13 percent of energy will be saved on each workday, with 17 percent saved on each weekend day.
The device, developed by the researchers from the Beijing Jiaotong University, has been undergoing testing at a station of Beijing Subway. Enditem
