CHENGDU, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Jiangsu recorded its fourth win in as many games, overcoming Xinjiang 90-78 in the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) here on Saturday.

Five Jiangsu players scored in double figures, led by center Xu Chenyan's 21 points. Chen Xiaojia and Liang Jiamei bagged 16 and 15 respectively.

"We came into this match with the mentality of challenging Xinjiang. I hoped that our players could show our style in such an intense game," said Jiangsu coach Ding Tie.

Xu, Liang and Zhang Manman got Jiangsu off to a quick start and combined for 21 first-quarter points, but Xinjiang withstood the trio's attack to tie the scores at 21-21 thanks to Wang Lili's 10 points.

After Gong Li's 3-pointer, Jiangsu capped the second period with a 12-0 spurt to go 46-38 ahead at the break.

Both wearing the No. 15 jersey, Xu and Xinjiang's Liu Tongyi shone on the offensive end in the third quarter. Xu scored seven straight points, while Liu drained two 3-pointers coupled with a jumper. Jiangsu went up 66-60 after three quarters.

After Chen's fast break layup, Jiangsu had an 11-point lead with 3:30 remaining thanks to an 8-0 surge, and didn't surrender its advantage from there.

Xinjiang's Han Xu finished with a team-high 19 points. Liu and Wang each had 17.

"Jiangsu's team chemistry is better than us, as they have played for quite a long time. We suffered some problems in our defense, and didn't restrain their character," Xinjiang coach Gao Fengjuan lamented. Enditem
