RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Brazil striker Roberto Firmino has warned that Peru will pose a stern test for the five-time world champions when the teams meet in their 2022 World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Firmino scored twice as Brazil opened their South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) qualifying campaign with a 5-0 rout of Bolivia in Sao Paulo on Friday. Peru drew 2-2 in their first match against Paraguay in Asuncion on Thursday.

"Peru are a solid team with some great players. It's going to be difficult to play them there [in Lima]," Firmino told a virtual news conference on Saturday.

The clash will be a replay of the 2019 Copa America final, which Brazil won 3-1 at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Despite going into Tuesday's match as firm favorites, Brazil cannot afford to take their opponents lightly, Firmino warned.

"We played very well [against Bolivia] and created a lot of chances to score, which is what is expected of the national team," the Liverpool player said.

"It was the first game. We have to keep working and aspiring because we've only taken one small step," he added. Enditem
