JERUSALEM, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Czech Republic beat Israel 2-1 on the road on Sunday in Group B2 of the UEFA's Nations League.

The match, played behind closed doors at Sammy Ofer Stadium in the northern city of Haifa, saw a strong start by the visitors, who missed several opportunities early.

However, the Czechs took the lead after an embarrassing mistake by Israeli goalkeeper Ofir Marciano, who failed to control the ball on a simple return pass from teammate Joel Abu Hanna in the 14th minute.

The Czech team doubled the lead on 47 minutes, after another Israeli mistake, this time by defender Eitan Tibi, letting striker Matej Vydra make it 2-0.

Israel scored in the 56th minute with an impressive shot by PSV Eindhoven's striker Eran Zahavi.

Israel missed a dramatic equalizer in the 92nd minute, as midfielder Manor Solomon's shot hit the post.

After matchday 3, Scotland top the group with 7 points, thanks to a 1-0 home win against Slovakia, followed by the Czech Republic (6 points), Israel (2) and Slovakia (1).

Israel will play its next game in Slovakia on Wednesday while the Czech Republic will play way to Scotland. Enditem
