BERLIN, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Ondrej Duda's equalizer secured Cologne a 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on home soil while Schalke continues winless in its 20th straight game after sharing the spoils with Union Berlin following a 1-1 stalemate in the closer of the 4th round of Bundesliga on Sunday.

Cologne and Frankfurt started the clash slowly as neither side was able to produce clear-cut opportunities.

The "Eagles" tried to break through with long range efforts but the shots from Andre Silva proved to be easy work for Cologne goalkeeper Timo Horn.

Frankfurt eventually opened the scoring in the closing period of the first half, after referee Sven Jablonski awarded the visitors a penalty and Silva converted from the spot.

The visitor failed to double its lead as Daichi Kamada squandered a promising chance from 13 meters in the 50th minute.

Cologne punished Frankfurt's wastefulness immediately as Kingsley Ehizibue broke through on the right wing before crossing into the area where Duda hammered home to level the scores in the 52nd minute.

With the draw, Frankfurt slips to the 4th position in the table while Cologne stays in 16th place after reaping the first point of the season.

"In the first half Frankfurt was certainly the better team. We then got a setback with the penalty in the injury time of the first half. We played very well in the second half and picked up a hard-earned point," Cologne head coach Markus Gisdol said.

"After 90 minutes I think we have dropped two points. We played very well in the first half, but we failed to make the second goal in the second half," said Frankfurt head coach Adi Hutter.

Elsewhere, last placed Schalke also wrapped up its first point of the season but still remains winless in its 20th consecutive match after playing out a 1-1 draw with Union Berlin. Enditem
