DAMASCUS, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem confirmed on Sunday the Syrian government's resolve to convene an international conference on Syrian refugees in Damascus in November, state news agency SANA reported.
Al-Moallem expressed the Syrian government's willingness to hold the conference about the return of Syrian refugees during his meeting with the visiting UN special envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen on Sunday.
According to the report, al-Moallem informed the envoy about the details of the conference, criticizing the Western role in creating false pretexts to prevent the return of Syrian refugees to their country.
The conference was first declared by the Russian Foreign Ministry, as it said that Russia would co-organize the conference on Syrian refugees in Damascus in November. Enditem
