RAMALLAH/GAZA, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- The current developments and challenges in the Arab world have obliged the Palestinian rivals, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah and Gaza's ruler Hamas, to end their feud and achieve reconciliation, said Palestinian analysts.

"The essential point that all Palestinian factions share and agree upon is to confront the dangers of the U.S. peace plan, known as the Deal of the Century, and the normalization agreements reached between several Arab states and Israel," Muhanad Abdul Hamid, a Ramallah-based political analyst, told Xinhua.

Pointing to the rebuilding of the internal united front as a top Palestinian priority, Hamid said this would guarantee the parliamentary and presidential elections expected to be held in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem within six months.

Tala Oukal, a Gaza-based political analyst, said Fatah and Hamas recently resumed their unity dialogue as the Palestinian cause is at its worst-ever stage amid the mounting regional pressures.

"There are attempts to subjugate the Palestinians, their cause, their legitimate rights, and their living conditions. No one can ease the negative consequences of these attempts," Oukal noted.

The Palestine Liberation Organization, the sole and legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, is in the middle of "an Israeli-U.S. storm," while "the international community is unable to help," he said.

For the past 13 years, Hamas and Fatah have failed to overcome their differences to end an internal division that has existed since Hamas violently seized control of the Gaza Strip and routed Abbas' security forces in 2007.

The two movements recently held a dialogue in Turkey, where they agreed to resist in tandem the U.S. Deal of the Century and the Israeli plan of annexing parts of the West Bank.

In the terms of unity, they agreed to end the internal division through a comprehensive dialogue and form a unity government that prepares for holding the general elections within six months.

Still, Rajab Abu Sereyah, a political analyst from Ramallah, warned that the reality of the endless internal division between Fatah and Hamas "has weakened the Palestinians' unity to confront Israel."

"The significant decline of the Palestinian cause is a clear and direct result of the internal division. I believe that Israel had successfully ... exploited this division to serve its interests and implement its plans," Abu Sereyah told Xinhua.

The matter of urgency "is to activate the field confrontation and resistance against Israel, and if this action is not triggered, I believe that the internal division between the two groups will go on," the Palestinian analyst concluded. Enditem
