Malaysia reports 1,884 new COVID-19 cases, 2 more deaths

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 1,884 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the national total to 56,659, the Health Ministry said on Monday.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that two of the new cases are imported and the rest 1,882 are local transmissions.

The majority of the new cases are from Selangor state, with 1,203 of the new cases reported in the state.

Two more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 337.

Another 883 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 42,480, or 75 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 13,842 active cases, 115 are being held in intensive care and 48 of those are in need of assisted breathing. Enditem
