India's forex reserves fall to 6-week low

NEW DELHI, April 26 (Xinhua) -- India's foreign exchange reserves fell by 2.83 billion U.S. dollars to 640.33 billion dollars during the week ended April 19, showed data released by the central bank, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on Friday.

This was the second consecutive week when the South Asian country's forex reserves fell, after rising for seven weeks in a row. During the previous week, the forex reserves had fallen by 5.4 billion dollars.

Presently, India's forex reserves are reported to be at a six-week low.

According to the RBI data, the foreign currency assets during the said week stood at 560.86 billion dollars, and the gold reserves at 56.81 billion dollars.
