　　The University of British Columbia in Canada has launched a new course for students which will examine George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire books and the hit HBO series.

　　加拿大的英屬哥倫比亞大學（University of British Columbia）為學生開設了一門新課，這門課程將研究喬治·R·R·馬丁的《冰與火之歌》係列小説和美國家庭影院頻道HBO的熱播劇《權力的遊戲》。

　　'Our Modern Medieval: The Song of Ice and Fire as contemporary Medievalism' is one of the modules English literature students can choose from at the university.

　　“現代的中世紀：作為當代中世紀主義的《冰與火之歌》”是英國文學專業學生在英屬哥倫比亞大學可以選擇的學習單元之一。

　　Students will be encouraged to "examine the role of the medieval in the popular consciousness of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries" as part of the course.

　　學校鼓勵學生研究中世紀在20世紀末和21世紀初的大眾意識中發揮的作用，並將其作為大學課程的一部分。

　　"Throughout the history of western culture, the medieval has been continually reimagined to reflect, as in a mirror darkly, the fears and desires of the contemporary moment," the website explains.

　　課程介紹頁面解釋稱，“縱觀整個西方文化史，中世紀就像在模糊的鏡子裏，不斷被重新構想來反映當代的恐懼與欲望”。

　　"For the writers of the Renaissance, the medieval was the abject other from which the rebirth of classical learning had liberated them, while the Victorians found in the Middle Ages archetypical structures of Empire and class-orientated chivalry."
