BAGHDAD, July 23 (Xinhua) -- A United States soldier was killed and two
were wounded near the town of Ramadi west of Baghdad on Wednesday when their
convoy was attacked with an improvised explosive, a U.S. military spokesman
said.
The attack came just two hours after a U.S. s
oldier was killed and six
others were wounded in a blast in Mosul in northern Iraq.
The U.S. casualties came following news that Saddam Hussein's sons Uday and
Qusay were killed in a gunbattle with U.S. troops in Mosul Tuesday in northern
Iraq.
Paul Bremer, the top U.S. civil administrator for Iraq, said Tuesday the
deaths of Saddam's sons "marginally improve the safety (of U.S. troops in Iraq),
although we could see attacks in the next few days as revenge."
