SYDNEY, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Sydney FC striker Adam Le Fondre is set to leave the A-league after the club announced it had accepted a lucrative offer to loan the frontman to an overseas club on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old had scored 45 goals in 68 games and won two A-league championships since he joined the Sky Blues in August 2018.

Sydney FC's head coach Steve Corica said given Le Fondre's great contribution to the club's recent success, it would be wrong to stand in his way.

"Adam has had an unbelievable couple of years with the club and has had a huge influence on our squad," he said.

"To stand in his way would not be just reward for the service he has given us, and we wish him the best."

Le Fondre said he enjoyed his time with the club and in Australia.

"I've had two fantastic years here at Sydney FC and have cherished every moment of my life in Australia," he said.

"We've had an unbelievable group of players over the last two seasons and a squad of great people. I will miss them all hugely...I'd also like to say a massive thanks to the club for considering mine and my family's future and allowing me to make this move."

Le Fondre is the latest A-League player to move to India, following Wellington Phoenix striker Gary Hooper, Brisbane Roar attacking midfielder Brad Inman and Perth Glory defender Jacob Tratt.

Sydney FC has already begun the search to find a new striker. Enditem
