Ghana beats Qatar in football friendly

ACCRA, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Ghana trounced Qatar, the 2022 FIFA World Cup host and 2019 Asian champion, 5-1 in an international friendly at the Emir Sports Complex in Antalya, Turkey on Monday.

It was the first meeting between the two sides at senior level.

Having been beaten 3-0 by Mali on Friday, Ghana manager Charles Kwabena Akonnor made five changes to his starting 11.

Ghana's Tariq Fosu opened the scoring on 22 minutes, but Qatar's Almoez Ali levelled the scores in the 44th minute.

Ghana captain Andrew Ayew and Samuel Owusu were on target in the 63rd and the 65th minute to restore Black Stars' lead.

Ayew scored again in the 83rd minute, and Caleb Ekuban sealed the win with an 87th-minute goal. Enditem
